Teaching grades 4–8 in the primary school may be a little tricky. On the one hand, we still deal with children, who generally respond well to movement-oriented activities and language games. On the other hand, we know that as we progress from grade 4 to 8, we must take our students from this experiential mode of learning to a more cognitive and focused one. In order not to de-motivate them, we may want to take advantage of a number of useful techniques to teach in both “brainy” and “friendly” way.
In my session I would like to share my ideas on how to make this teaching and learning process as enjoyable and effective as possible. We will be exploring the power of visual learning, language riddles, frequent revision tasks, memory techniques, and learning strategies, to help our young learners learn in a more mature way. Lots of practical tips guaranteed!
