We already know that this year’s 8th graders have achieved less than average results in the first 8th grader’s exam. Their results prove that accuracy poses a significant problem to upper-primary learners, who lose precious points in the exam due to inaccurate grammar, lexis and/or spelling. So, we need to establish what it takes to pass the exam with more satisfying scores.
In my session I‘ll present a short report on the 8th grader exam results, outlining the main problem areas. I also wish to show a few techniques for more accuracy-oriented learning and teaching, mindful recycling as well as working across Polish and English texts and their summaries. With smart planning in action we can organise the teaching so that the learning is focused, formative and remains student-friendly. Come along if you want to find out how.
